Surface treatment of steel pipe - priming - tape winding
1. remove slag, burrs, grease and dirt from the surface of the steel pipe. For pipelines that are heavily overhauled, proper methods should be used to remove the original anticorrosive coating and residue.
2. mechanical or sand blasting and derusting methods (if designated sandblasting treatment), the quality shall meet the national standard "steel surface corrosion grade and derusting grade before painting". GB/T8923-1998 stipulates St3 or Sa2 grade.
3. after derusting, the defects on the surface of the steel pipe should be treated. The dust and abrasives on the surface should be cleaned up and the surface of the steel pipes should be kept dry. When rust or surface contamination occurs, surface pretreatment is necessary.

4 after the primer is dry, it usually takes 5-10 minutes at room temperature and natural air flow. Special attention should be paid to low temperature or in the construction of trenches, so that the surface drying time should be longer to ensure that the lower part of the steel tube is dry.
5 the time interval between the primer and the tape should be controlled within 8 hours. The surface of the primer should be dry and dust-free. For more than 8 hours or overnight, the primer should be repainted before winding tape.
6 when using primers, attention should be paid to safety, to prevent splash, and to keep away from fire sources. After the primer is used, the remaining primer should be returned to the original iron container and sealed container in time to prevent the volatilization and waste of the primer.
